Fabio Porru

Fabio has been investigating the intersection of work and wellbeing since 2016. After earning his Medical Degree from the University of Cagliari, he completed a PhD in Public Health at Erasmus MC with a dissertation titled “Causes and Consequences of Mental Health Among University Students and Workers.”

He recently served as Research Lead for the Student Wellbeing Programme at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he contributed to produce evidence based on the EUR Student Wellbeing Monitor. Alongside his academic work, he is active on social media as “Happydemiologist” to promote mental-health awareness and communicate scientific research to the broader public.

Fabio is currently revisiting the Dutch Residency Educational Climate Test (D-RECT) to advance the assessment of learning environments among resident physicians.

He is strongly committed to improving how science is conducted—advocating for open science, inclusive research practices, and the study of health inequalities, including LGBTQIA+ wellbeing, gender-based violence, and planetary health.
