Joost van den Berg

Joost van den Berg

Joost first entered the Academic Medical Center as a medical student some 15 years ago. He now is a resident in Internal Medicine and a post-doc-researcher at the PP&CC research group. As a researcher he is co-supervising several PhD students, and building his own line of research in professional performance and medical education.

He more specifically focusses on the well-being of physicians and other health care professionals. He is convinced of the importance of compassionately caring for each other as health care professionals, as well as for patients, given the impact of well-being on the quality of the clinical work. A lack of perceived well-being puts the quality of work at risk. “Fortunately, there is an increased interest in this topic and yet there’s still much left to improve”, says Joost.
